2.  Intake for Coursework mode is open twice a year, which is every October until November (for the next February intake) and every April until May (for the September intake).

3.  Intake for Research mode programmes can be made any time throughout the year.4.  Application fee of RM30.00 (for Malaysian applicants), USD30.00 or MYR100.00 (for international applicants) have to paid online as instructed in online application system.

Master of Science in Low Carbon and Hydrogen Technology

Registration Status: Full Time & Part Time

Study Options

There are several study options under Master of Science study programme in Institute of Fuel Cell (SELFUEL):

1. Research (PART TIME and FULL TIME)
2. Coursework (PART TIME and FULL TIME)

  1. Bachelor’s Degree with Honors and have a CGPA of 2.75 and above from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia or equivalent from any institution of higher learning recognized by the Senate;
  2. Bachelor’s Degree with Honors and have a CGPA between 2.50-2.74 from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia or equivalent from any institution of higher learning recognized by the Senate and have at least 1-year working experience in a related field. If there is no working experience, the candidate must be a Research Assistant (RA) for a minimum period of 6 months and show a good performance certified by the supervisor; OR
  3. Bachelor’s Degree with Honors and have a CGPA between 2.00-2.49 from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia or equivalent from any institution of higher learning recognized by the Senate and have at least 5 years working experience in a related field. If there is no work experience, the candidate must be a Research Assistant (RA) for a minimum period of 1 year and show a good performance certified by the supervisor.
  1. A Bachelor of Engineering degree/ Bachelor of Science/ Bachelor of Technology with honors (CGPA 2.5 and above) from any institution of higher learning recognized by the Senate; OR
  2. A Bachelor of Engineering degree/ Bachelor of Science/ Bachelor of Technology with honors having CGPA 2.00 – 2.49 accompanying with at least 5 years of working experience in the science and technology field after obtaining the degree; OR
  3. Fulfilling the Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL A) with MQF Level 7 for Malaysian candidates only.
Research Institute Fuel Cell & Hydrogen Requirements

International candidates who DO NOT meet the English language competency requirements may be given the following CONDITIONAL OFFERS:

Students are allowed to attend the internal English Preparatory Course at UKM with a maximum period of two (2) years, but students are still subject to the regulations of the Immigration Department of Malaysian which is in force; AND

International students who take the Internal English Preparation Course must sit for the TOEFL, IELTS, MUET, Pearson Test of English, Cambridge English Qualifications and Test, Cambridge English Placement Test (CEPT), Certified Intensive English Programme (CIEP), English Language Company (ELC), or International English Language Centre (IELC) to meet the English Language competency requirements as stated above.

International candidates originating from a country that uses English as the OFFICIAL LANGUAGE or who have academic qualifications obtained from any institution of higher learning that uses English as the MEDIUM of instruction may be fully exempted from the English language requirement.
